Case study · YEVDES · Ankara University
Under the EU-funded YEVDES project, we assessed the feasibility of integrating solar energy at Ankara University's Gölbaşı Campus.

YEVDES (Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Support for Municipalities and Universities) is a technical assistance project funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium led by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Its final beneficiary is Türkiye's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Meeting the energy needs of public bodies, municipalities and universities from renewable sources is an important part of Türkiye's energy transition. YEVDES aims to build the capacity of municipalities and universities in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Within it, Ankara University assessed the potential of solar energy at its Gölbaşı Campus.
We calculated the expected energy yield of the solar plant considered for the campus. We analysed how generation would match the campus's consumption profile and reported the results as a feasibility study.
Our work helped the university base its decision on a solar investment on independent, measurable data. The project shows the role we take on as technical adviser in the renewable energy transition of public institutions.
