Construction and manufacturing quality inspection

Our solar panel inspection services cover both the manufacturing and installation phases. We carry out quality control through physical on-site inspections and a thorough analysis of technical documents, production records and test data.

In factory acceptance tests (FAT) we use PV module testing to check whether the solar modules are produced correctly and to their specification, and we carry out a pre-shipment inspection before the modules leave the factory. Construction monitoring on site follows the same approach.

How we work

We start from a quality control plan. At the factory we inspect production records and acceptance tests, and on site the works and the installation, against the checkpoints in that plan, and we report what we find.

    Quality control plan

We set out the quality control plan that fixes the checkpoints for solar panel quality, equipment supply and the works on site.

  • Solar modules on a manufacturing line

    Factory acceptance tests

Through factory acceptance tests and module testing, including the flash test of each solar panel, we check that the modules are produced to their specification.

  • Data charts on a laptop and a phone

    Review of production data

Solar panel testing, from the flash test to electroluminescence testing, produces I-V results and EL images for every module. We review them with image-processing tools we developed ourselves, so that every module is assessed against the same criteria, efficiently and with little room for error.

  • Engineer checking ground-mounted module rows with a document

    Site quality inspection

We inspect the works on site and the quality of installation against the project requirements.

What we deliver

Our deliverables are set by the scope of each job; we do not hand over the same report package on every project.

  • Two inspectors checking work on a production floor

    A quality control plan

We put the checkpoints to be inspected and the acceptance criteria in writing at the start of the work.

  • A magnifier and steel ruler over a technical drawing

    Document reviews

We compare specifications, certificates and quality records with the project requirements.

  • A solar module on a production line

    Production or site inspection records

We record the checks we make at the factory and on site, with the non-conformities we find.

  • An inspector in a high-visibility vest writing on a clipboard

    Technical reports

We bring the scope of the inspection, the criteria used and the results together in one report.
