Performance verification

We analyse measurement data and operating records to support the assessment of performance.

The EPC contractor commits to how much the plant will produce. We look at the plant's past production, calculate with software how much it should have produced, and compare the two. Where there is a gap, the cause often lies in the modules: solar panel degradation, solar panel defects such as cracks, potential induced degradation (PID) or a hot spot on a solar panel. The result gives solar asset management a technical basis for its decisions.

How we work

We verify the production performance of your operating plant through measurement and analysis.

  • Two inspectors in hard hats reviewing documents among the module rows of a solar plant

    Starting from the commitment

We take the EPC contractor's production commitment for the plant as the starting point of the assessment.

  • Engineer at a desk, seen from behind, reviewing a solar plant's production charts on a monitor

    Past production

We review the plant's measured past production and its operating records, with their coverage and quality.

  • Two engineers with a laptop on a solar array

    Calculating expected production

We calculate with software how much the plant should produce.

  • A pen on a printed chart report

    Comparison and conclusion

We compare measured and expected production, assess the performance through the solar performance ratio (PR) and report the results.

What we deliver

Our deliverables are set by the scope of each job; we do not hand over the same report package on every project.

  • Engineers reviewing data on monitoring screens

    Data coverage and quality

We state the period, completeness and gaps of the production data and operating records we reviewed.

  • An engineer working through calculations at a desk

    The assessment method

We explain the method and the conditions against which we assessed performance.

  • A hand checking figures on a printed table beside a calculator

    The calculations

We show the calculation of expected production with the data and assumptions we used.

  • Hands discussing a printed chart report across a table

    Conclusions

We report the gap between measured and expected production and the performance ratio (PR).

Our expert in this area

In performance verification we compare what the plant produced with what it should have produced. The assessment is useful when we can show from measurements where the gap comes from.
